Wisconsin Man Sets a New World Record

Some world records are made by outstanding athletic achievements. Some world records are made by extraordinary medical anomalies. But some world records are made by a guy who just happens to like Big Macs a little bit too much.

This Wisconsin native is Don Gorske, the current world record holder for Big Macs consumed, as well as the first man to eat a whopping 30,000 burgers.

Gorske dates his obsession back to 1972, when he acquired his driver’s license and decided to grab a bite at his local McDonalds. His first taste of the sandwich containing two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions epitomized the idea of “love at first sight,” though his adoration was drawn towards an inanimate food rather than someone else.

Gorske stated that “this one is a biggie for me, something I have been looking forward to.” The 30,000 Big Mac mark is a huge achievement, as Gorske has only gone 8 days without eating a Big Mac, which included the day of his mother’s death when he didn’t eat one in remembrance of her.

Although Gorske is extremely proud of his accomplishment, this milestone hasn’t gone unnoticed by others. He has already made several television appearances, which include the “Rachel Ray Show,” “Jimmie Kimmel,” “Lopez Tonight,” “I’ve got a Secret,” “Oprah,” and “Inside Edition.” In addition, he received adoration from the fast food chain itself, which stated that “we are lovin’ Don Gorske’s enthusiasm for our iconic Big Mac sandwich and appreciate his ongoing loyalty.”

With his love of Big Macs and support from those around him, Don Gorske doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.
