H&M X Balmain Collaboration Collection Sells Out In Minutes

November 6, 2015

Many of you may be familiar with the brand Balmain, but for those who are not it is a French luxury brand designed by Olivier Rousteing.  The label is famous for its beaded long-sleeved dresses, cutouts, rope detailing and sleek silhouette.  The Kardashian and Jenner girls are some of Balmain’s biggest customers, or members of the Balmain army.  In fact, Kendall Jenner has become the face of the collaboration as she stars in the H&M X Balmain promotional video.

Rousting announced that he was going to be collaborating with H&M back in May, and in the months following the hype has been extreme.  There have been countless pictures and sneak peaks of the collection floating around.  Celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and more have been wearing select looks from the collection to various award shows.  This has only increased the publics’ desire to own these fabulous items.  Just to put a perspective on the deals that customers receive in this collection, a dress from the collaboration marked at $600 can be closely compared to one Kim Kardashian has from the Balmain label costing close to $20,000.

In the past couple of days H&M has displayed the Balmain collection as a coming soon section to their website.  This allowed customers to see the items and prices before hand to plan out what they wanted to get.  For the customers who wanted to get the pieces right in their hands, they camped out in front of the stores for days.  At exactly 8 AM Eastern Time in the U.S. the website activated and the stores opened their doors.  Within the hour nearly all of the items were sold out.  Stores separated shoppers into small groups and gave the customers bracelets with the time in which they could enter the store and commence shopping.  Once inside each group only had around 10 minutes to shop and another 10 minutes to try on and purchase the goods.  As for online shoppers, the website shut many out for hours before letting them onto the site to shop.  Then, when they finally got onto the website, nearly everything was sold out.

The U.S was not the only part of the world going crazy for the coveted Balmain goods.  In fact, in London, after the store was open for a total of 10 minutes, there was only one item left.  Angry customers who missed out on the Balmain products have taken to twitter in revolt.  Many are posting crazy videos of mobs inside the stores.  The #restockH&MBalmain has become extremely popular, as well, among those who did not get all they wanted out of the collection.

All in all, the H&M X Balmain collaboration collection was an extreme success and we will just have to wait and see how the label will handle the surplus of angry customers demanding more stock for the gorgeous designs.
