Taylor Swift’s 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, is being released April 19th and is following her release of “Midnights” in 2022. and “1989 (Taylor’s Version) in 2023. This album is rumored to offer a plethora of emotions, with song titles ranging from “loml” to “Florida!!!” There are 14 confirmed songs on the album and multiple collaborations with varying artists, such as Post Malone and Florence + The Machine.

Fans are waiting in anticipation, as all the singer has released about the album has been a small teaser on social media. In a short video released on April 16th, Swift pans through a building until she arrives at a door labeled “The Tortured Poets Department,” where a calendar on the wall reveals that a music video will also be released along with the album on the 19th. This caused commotion over all social media platforms as theories about what each song title means and who each song is about grow each day.

The majority of fingers point towards Joe Alwyn, Swift’s now ex-boyfriend. The pair dated for about 6 years and were engaged until April 8, 2023, when the two announced their split had occurred in late March of 2023. Fans believe the majority of the album is about their relationship, as Alwyn was discovered to be in a Whatsapp group chat titled “The Tortured Man Club.” This makes clear connection to the album title, along with song names such as “So Long, London” a connection to Alwyn being English.

When it comes to Swift and her album releases, she has a tendency to break so many streaming, sales, and chart records that her highly anticipated new album is expected to be nothing short of incredibly successful. To check a track record, both her last two album releases spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) being a rerelease of songs she has already produced and the one that sold nearly 1.4 million copies within its first week. On top of that, “Midnights” caused her to be the most streamed artist on both Spotify and Apple Music in just a single day.

The suspense for “The Tortured Poet’s Department” has been less elaborate than previous albums, and yet it is still one of the most popular social media topics right now. It’s believed that this release will only bring her more success, as fans have already begun to pre order merchandise and pre save songs. It’s been known that Swift is undeniably successful by both her 12 Grammy Awards and worldwide fanbase, and with this new release may come even more monumental fame and fortune.
