Recently, big name companies, such as Amazon, Apple, and Dell, are working to make their products more sustainable in order to appeal to their Millennial and Gen-Z consumers. This is mainly because Millennials and Gen-Z are more inclined to buy products from companies that are aiming to be more environmentally friendly.
Amazon, Apple, and Dell are just some of the few companies that have started efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Amazon in particular launched a 2 billion dollar Climate Pledge Fund in order to invest in products and services that decarbonize the earth, and with the goal of being net zero carbon by 2040. With Apple and Dell following in Amazon’s footsteps, Apple has just committed to being 100% carbon neutral in their entire business. Apple is even building a recycling robot that can dismantle Apple’s products to then use the parts in other devices. Dell also announced a plan to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, and to increase recycling programs.
The sustainability programs of these companies not only increase their number of consumers, but they also will have positive impacts on future generations. If companies significantly reduce their carbon footprint today, the future generations will have to face fewer environmental and social challenges.
