The Manhasset Production, Almost, Maine, Q&A with Cast Member!

This Friday, Manhasset’s very first virtual theatre production of Almost Maine premiered! The cast and crew did an impressive job putting together a spectacular show for the Manhasset community to enjoy. We are joined by one of the cast members of the show: Ella Mineroff, a sophomore, to tell us a little about this experience.

Can you tell us a little about the production?

The play we chose to do this year is Almost, Maine. It’s about relationships between different individuals in different scenes throughout the whole play. Though each relationship is different, we see the common theme of love and conflict.

What did you love about this production of Almost Maine?

I thought it was a really fun experience! We were able to film and perform in different areas. We’re usually limited to the auditorium, but this time, we could bring the audience with us to other places, like in the hallways, and outside. It was easier to express our characters and their thoughts. I felt honored to work with such a talented cast and crew which made this fantastic production possible.

What was the best or funniest memory in the show?

We got to film outside the school on the stairs, and it was super windy that day! We had to redo that part a lot because we kept messing up. We also got to film in someone’s car, and we accidentally turned the windshield wipers on! Overall, it was a really great experience.

Why did you want to be involved in this production?

I really enjoy theatre, so I’ve been in all the high school shows so far! I also wanted to see what a virtual production would be like! This was a new experience for everyone, but it worked very well! I hope that we’ll have a musical in the spring, but we aren’t sure yet.

How long have you been involved in theatre?

I’ve been an avid performer since fourth grade, and I’ve done all the middle and high school shows up until now. When I was younger, I actually came to all the high school shows since I got to see everyone work together on stage. That was something special.

What do you love about theatre?

There are so many things! I love that it’s a group effort to work together. And as a team, we create entertainment for everyone else in the audience, which makes you feel really great. It’s also a great way to express yourself. Here at Manhasset, we truly are a theatre family!!

Almost, Maine certainly was a spectacular virtual production, and Ella has hinted at a possible production in the spring. Thank you so much to Ella Mineroff for taking the time to sit down and answer a few questions about the show. The Manhasset community is very excited as to where the theatre program will go in the future!
