The New York Knicks- A History
If you live in the great New York Metropolitan area, you’re probably a Knicks fan. Whether they are winning or losing, they are an amazing team to watch. The name “Knicks” actually comes from the official name “The New York Knickerbockers”. The Knickerbockers is a tribute to the Dutch settlers who settled in New York years ago. The team was first founded in 1946. The team is so old, that it actually outages the NBA itself!
The Knicks have had some of the most iconic teams and seasons in NBA history. For example, the Knicks won 2 national championships (1970 and 1973). The 1969-70 season had some of the most iconic players in Knicks history: Walt Frazier, Bill Bradley, and Dave DeBusschere. Nowadays other famous Knicks include Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingas. More recently (2022 season), the Knicks have been off to an alright start. They may not always be the best team, but to me they are the most entertaining team to watch! Going to “the garden” is always an experience in itself. Built in 1968, Madison Square Garden is right above Penn Station in the middle of New York City. Being so convenient near the trains and being in the middle of a huge city, the Garden always attracts a ton of fans!
