The Mayans predicted that the world would end in 2012, the previous generation predicted the world would end on January 1st, 2000, and the world had predicted that the world would end on November 8th with the results of the 2016 presidential election. All of these have (so far) been incorrect claims but only time will tell what will truly be our extinction.

With the results of Donald Trump’s victory having been released early this morning, the reactions are mostly of surprise; against all odds, Trump won the 2016 presidential election. He was projected to greatly lose to Hillary and didn’t even win the popular vote (by less than a percent). However, he won as a result of his electoral votes that he received.

When asking my fellow students about their thoughts on this outcome, this is what they replied:

“This country is divided almost exactly down the middle. There wasn’t enough coverage on other options like Gary Johnson, which caused fewer people to even know about them.” – John Tsimis
