The Manhasset Engineering Club recently completed its Egg Drop project.
During this project, students were tasked with creating a custom capsule to hold an egg, preventing it from breaking.
Each capsule was then put to the test, being thrown from the roof…, egg and all. On the ground, students observed and determined if the egg was undamaged, cracked, or completely scrambled.
A wide variety of ideas were put into play during this project, everything from popcorn to parachutes. Groups 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14 successfully prevented any damage to the egg, earning them a perfect score of 5/5. Future projects await the Manhasset Engineering Club; watch for the next time we show off what our members design, create, and innovate.
