So you own a Mac and thought you were invincible. Only those lowly Windows users were the victims of hacking, right? Well guess what?? The hackers figured out a way to get into the Macs as well.

This was first reported on March 4, 2016 by a security company called Palo Alto Networks. The hackers designed the malware by originally hijacking software called Transmission. This software is commonly used by Mac users for the uploading and sharing of pictures, videos and music through peer to peer networking.

The malware called RANSOMWARE hijacks the information on the computer. It takes three days after the computer is exposed to fully take effect. The hijackers then demand a ransom to set the computer and its data free.

This is not an uncommon tactic used by hackers. Demanding a ransom costs windows users millions of dollars yearly.

Apple has already removed Transmission from its site of approved software. A Palo Alto network data base already has a blog available on its site for all Mac users who need assistance. Transmission is carrying a warning on its site regarding the transmission of the virus.
