Spirit Week in Manhasset

Spirit week in Manhasset High School is truly a week like no other. For one week, it is socially acceptable to come to school in a Pokémon onesie, wear your pajamas, and dress like you just came back from the 80’s in a time machine.  Though spirit week was early this year, being only the second week of getting back into the grind, that didn’t stop students from their outrageously comical costumes and personas that followed on a day to day basis.

Seniors continued their tradition of “goth day” and the “paint fight” that seems to carry on as the students continuously reach senior year. Surely the middle schoolers were quite shocked at the sudden change in appearance of the typically friendly upperclassman faces. The other days that the seniors participated in were “red, white, and blue day”, “doctor day”, and “tv/ movie character day”.

Underclassmen on the other hand, carried out their own “pajama day” tradition, along with “pink day” to promote breast cancer awareness. Pajama day is the typical favorite for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors alike.

Even teachers played along with the festive week! From Mario and Luigi to wearing the same outfit 2 years in a row for their faculty picture (yes Señor G, I’m talking about you), faculty and staff alike let their childish sides run free for this special week, all in preparation for the Homecoming Parade and the Homecoming Game.
