Manhasset Crew Team Races at the 53rd Head of The Charles Regatta

On October 22, 2017, the Manhasset Crew Team headed up to Boston to compete in the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta.  This year, Manhasset was one of 790 different teams from around the world that raced, sending six boats from the varsity men and women’s teams.  The varsity men and women spent weeks competing with one another for a spot in one of those boats and only a few prevailed.

Thirty-two members of the Manhasset Crew Team received the opportunity to race at this prestigious regatta in an effort to re-qualify a boat for next years race.  In order to requalify a boat for the following year, the crew team had to place top half in their respective category.  Fortunately, half of the boats that were sent to Boston re-qualified for next year thus creating big shoes to fill for the young rowers of the Manhasset Crew Team.

The Men’s Varsity 8+ placed 37/85, the Women’s Varsity 4+ placed 30/84 and the Women’s Varsity 8+ placed 24/85.  Unfortunately, the remaining three boats missed the requalification mark.  However, the work of the Manhasset Crew Team this fall season has been noted and continues to bring an overwhelming sense of pride to the town of Manhasset.  As the fall season comes to an end for the Manhasset Crew Team, the rowers are preparing for winter training in order to head to Nationals in California this upcoming spring.
