The Imitation Game

“…An intense and haunting portrayal of a brilliant, complicated man, THE IMITATION GAME follows a genius who under nail-biting pressure helped to shorten the war and, in turn, save thousands of lives.”

-Weinstein

The Imitation Game was released in New York on the 26th of December and is quickly accumulating high reviews and praises. It is a thriller and dramatic biography of Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch) about his race to crack the Nazi codes, dubbed the Enigma, which was originally believed to be impossible. He is responsible for the creation of the first computer. Turing’s team, Joan Clarke (Keira Knightley), Hugh Alexander (Matthew William Goode), John Cairncross (Allen Leech), assist Turing and analyze Enigma messages while he builds a machine to decipher them. Turing and his team finally succeed and become heroes. Disastrously, in 1952, the quiet genius faced scorn and disrepute when authorities revealed that he was gay, and he eventually committed suicide in 1954. Although the movie did correctly portray all of the historic facts, the movie is still definitely one to see.

This stunning, emotional, and educational film is currently playing in Bow Tie Cinemas on Plandome Road, in Bayside and Westbury.
