FACE: Jimin’s Solo Album
On March 24th, Park Jimin, a member of the renowned South-Korean boyband, BTS, officially released his first solo album. FACE was constructed based on Jimin’s experience as a solo artist for the first time and his path of self-discovery and voice. ARMYs from all over the world were elated by the high-quality visuals and diverse songs on the album.
FACE focuses on Jimin’s emotional experience through the COVID-19 pandemic. His songs reflect his individuality through the reach for freedom, the maze of loneliness, and self-discovery battles. His bandmates encouraged him to translate his feelings into music, and so, this became the sole stimulus for his album.
Through collaborations with fellow producers Pdogg, Ghstloop, Evan, and even RM, leader of BTS, they created a tracklist filled with a mixture of pop, hip-hop, and R&B records. The lead single ‘Set Me Free Pt. 2’ and its music video premiered on March 17th, enlightening ARMYs from all over the world from the jaw-dropping choreography and visuals. This was followed by his second lead single, ‘Like Crazy’, which debuted along with the official album release.
One of the songs, ‘Like Crazy’, reached #1 on the Billboard 100, making Jimin the first Korean soloist to achieve this accomplishment. On the first day of the drop, he sold over 1.4 million copies of the album, thus also making him the first in Hanteo history to do so. He charted as #1 in several countries such as Austria, France, Canada, and Switzerland, demonstrating the huge success of his album.
