Kicks of the Month – October Edition
Welcome sneakerheads, Air Jordan enthusiasts, and fellow shoe owners! For the past few years, I have been an avid shoe collector and wish to share my knowledge and preferences with you in this monthly column!
Air Jordan 7 Orion’s
With the year of the 7’s among us, you can’t go wrong with these Jordan 7 Orion’s. These are probably one of the most underrated Air Jordan 7’s out there. Based on my own experience, I can say that they are very comfortable, but run a little large. However, they are slightly less comfortable than a pair of foamposite’s. Aside from this controversy, they are very clean and will turn heads. The white looks sleek and neat, the red and blue go along very well, and the black is a good contrast to the white. Then to top it all off, they were probably my cheapest pair of Jordan’s too! I purchased these at a sneaker event last year for $115! If you look online, you can find them new anywhere from around $110-150. However, flightclub.com sells them for about $350 on average. Overall, the Air Jordan 7 Orion’s are great casual shoes.
Air Jordan 1 Laser’s
Next up on the list are the Jordan 1 Laser’s. These shoes are relatively new, having come out this year, which adds to their visual value. I own two pairs of Jordan 1’s and can say that they are comfortable, but not nearly as agreeable as a pair of foamposite’s or Lebron 10’s are. The white, metallic silver, and icy soles go together seamlessly to create a shoe that is simply exceptional to look at. If you look online, you could find these for sale for around $165 or more; Flight Club has them for sale from $165-275 depending on the size. Jordan One’s are all-around great casual shoes because of their stylish looks, variety of colorways, and usually inexpensive price range. One of my friends has these and usually receives complements about them when he wears them.
Kobe 9 EM Laser Crimson’s
The last shoes for this month are these Kobe 9 Low’s. In the past, Kobe’s have been under controversy, but are known for their cheaper price-range, durable build quality, functionality on and off of the court. Despite that, some wearers are not pleased by the available color options. The Kobe 9 EM Laser Crimson’s, on the other hand, are another case. These shoes are nearly unrivaled in almost every aspect. Although there will be people who don’t like these, they are definitely something that I could consider purchasing. However, this specific color way is more expensive being anywhere from $180 and up. Last month, I bought a pair of these in a different set of colors. I was skeptical at first, being my first pair of Kobe’s, but after wearing them for ten minutes, I was sold. These are without a doubt one of the most comfortable shoes that I own and also double as excellent on-court shoes as well—They performed exceptionally well when I played a game of basketball in them. Another bonus with these shoes is how there is no leather in them, so you can’t really crease them as bad and if they get really wet, it’s not as big of a deal. One time, when I was wearing my pair, it was raining hard outside and I was caught in the middle of it. My shoes ended up getting flooded with water, but when I returned home again, I was successfully able to take out the insoles and dry the shoes without any problems.
That’s all for this month. Make sure you check back in November for new sneaker suggestions.
