Nerve Movie Review
Everyone has played the classic game of truth or dare, but what if this simple game was taken a step further? In the movie Nerve, the plot is just that. There is a secret website that gives people the option to be either a “player” or a “watcher”. The players are given dares by the watchers, who pay a fee of 20 dollars to watch the whole thing be carried out. If successful, the players are paid. This suspenseful movie is a must-see, with an interesting plot intertwined with phenomenal acting and an amazing soundtrack. There are several themes that are prevalent throughout the movie, including anonymity within a crowd, morality, and friendship.
In the movie, Emma Roberts plays Vee Delmonico, who is done with feeling invisible. Persuaded by her friend group, she joins the game Nerve, which is a modified online version of Truth or Dare. As time passes, the competition and the severity of the dares heighten. When Nerve takes an ominous turn, it ends up governing the entire future of the new and improved Vee.
In addition, some of the actors of the Netflix Original Series, “Orange is the New Black”, star in “Nerve”, such as Samira Wiley, appealing to fans of the television series. Similarly, Vee, the protagonist in the movie “Nerve”, is also the name of the antagonist in “Orange is the New Black” on season 2.
“Nerve” should definitely be on your list of movies to see, because of the amazing cast and plot. The acting is incredible and is emphasized greatly with the well thought out soundtrack. The movie will be out on DVD around mid-October.
