The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards took place on Sunday March 14, 2021. They were hosted by comedian Trevor Noah at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Excellent performances were given by many artists, including Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Dua Lipa. According to Variety, this year’s Grammy Awards was the most streamed event ever, with 83% more live streams than 2020. Some of this year’s winners include: Harry Styles for Best Pop Solo Performance, Billie Eilish for Record of the Year, Taylor Swift for Album of the year, and Dua Lipa for Best Pop Vocal Album.
The original date for the 2021 awards was planned to take place on January 31st, but due to an increase in Covid-19 cases, the date was postponed to March 14th. In order to ensure proper health precautions during this event, masks were worn by all attending artists, and they were seated at small socially distanced tables. Masks were only removed by some artists when receiving awards, or performing. An outdoor location was also utilized to guarantee maximum safety, and there was no large audience.
