Electric Cars – Dominating or Destroying the Word?
Electric cars have been taking over the roads and the Internet. Electric cars have always been an idea in theory for manufacturers, but they could not pull it off until a couple of years ago. These unique cars have many more benefits over gas powered vehicles, with the ability to run on pure electricity.
These cars started to gain popularity when gas prices dramatically increased in early 2020 through April of 2021. However, during the quarantine stage, nobody was driving or flying, so gas-producing companies such as Exxon and Shell had to increase the price per gallon of gas in order to make a profit. One of the few downsides of these cars is the bigger price tag, though these vehicles last much longer than gas-powered cars and you save a lot more money charging your vehicle than filling your vehicle up with gas. Maintenance for these cars is also much cheaper than gas cars, with gas cars costing an estimated $228 per year and electric cars costing only $77 per year. The highest price per gallon for gas was seven dollars. The average American car can hold 15 gallons of gas, which meant people were paying about $105 dollars to fill their car up with gas. That was when the electric car industry started to blow up. Electric vehicles have an average range of 200-400 miles on a full charge, but the cost to fully charge a Tesla at a charging station is only about $15.
Electric cars also have a positive impact on nature and global warming. Global warming is mainly caused by burning fossil fuels such as oil and gas, which can lead to the air getting highly polluted because of the toxic chemicals caused by burning fuel, and that can lead to lung cancer. Research shows that if the world did not have any electric cars, the global temperatures would increase by 37 degrees fahrenheit. A new California law says that any one in an electric Vehicle can utilize the carpool, or HOV lane, to keep the state of California clean. That is just one example of how governments are starting to promote electric cars.
Many owners of electric vehicles believe that the driving experience is a lot better than in a gas-powered vehicle, with electric cars being much quieter and smoother compared to gas-powered cars. A big part about having no engine and being fully electronic is not having to rev and warm up the engine. The heat in your car is produced from the engine and revving your engine makes it much quicker and easier for the heat to flow smoothly.
Many companies such as Nissian and Volvo, which are currently mainly gas cars, are soon planning to switch to fully electric cars.
Uber, a platform where people can book and pay for a taxi service to take them to their destination, has the idea of potentially limiting their drivers to only drive electric cars. In fact, some companies, such as Rivian and Lucid Motors, are strictly producing only electric cars.
All in all, electric cars have a very bright future. Many companies are most likely going to have to switch to manufacturing at least some electric cars as part of their production in order to stay competitive and profitable.
