New York Fashion Week is coming up in the next couple of months and many people might be wondering how they can be a part of it.  Here are my top 5 ways to have a NYFW experience that you will remember for years to come.

5) SNAPCHAT

Many of you know that New York Fashion Week (formerly known as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week) is an extremely exclusive even.  In fact, it is invite only which leaves many of us wishing we could be there.  However, just because you can’t actually attend the event, doesn’t mean that you can’t get all of the updates and behind the scenes looks at everything going on.  By looking at the NYFW story on Snapchat, you can see everything going on both backstage and on the runway at each show.  Many times the images come right from the models and celebrities!

4) GLAM SQUAD TAXI

So maybe you can’t attend an actual show at NYFW.  That doesn’t mean you can’t get the whole luxury beauty experience.  One company has created the Glam Squad Taxi.  During fashion week, this taxi has been known to roam the streets of New York, ready to pick up new passengers.  By using an app on your phone, you can hail the taxi and prepare for a total makeover.  Yes, this taxi gives you a complementary makeover that leaves you looking like you just stepped out of one of NYFW’s top events.

3) SMALL BOUTIQUE FASHION WEEK

Most people don’t know that there are actually many different fashion events taking place during fashion week, aside from New York Fashion Week (formerly Mercedes Benz Fashion Week).  One of these includes Small Boutique Fashion Week.  This particular event is for up and coming designers who are looking for a way to get their brand out to the public.  Tickets are available to the public as well.  Another interesting thing about this event is that if you are an aspiring designer or model yourself, you can actually apply to be a part of the show.  If you want to learn more about Small Boutique Fashion Week, please read my previous article about my experience attending it last year. 2) COUTURE FASHION WEEK

Couture Fashion Week also takes place at this time and gives the public an opportunity to experience a live fashion event from brands that are lesser known than those in New York Fashion Week.  Tickets are available to purchase on their website.

1) NETWORK

Finally, the number one way to get involved in NYFW is to attend the actual New York Fashion Week itself.  Now in order to do that without a ticket, you have to rely on networking.  That means you show up to the events, all dressed to go, and start talking to the people who are there.  You might be surprised to find that a lot of people have extra tickets that they are willing to give away.  Last year,  I was talking to a professional photographer shooting Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and he offered to give me 2 tickets to one of the shows.  So, networking being at the right place at the right time may just get you into some of the top fashion shows!
