Manhasset Orchestra’s Trip to Disney World

On February 3rd, 66 members of the Manhasset Secondary School Symphonic and Concert Orchestra arrived at the high school at 3 A.M. to embark on their magical trip to Walt Disney World. Mrs. Shyr, with the help of her musical colleagues, traveled with the high school’s orchestra to Orlando for unique and unforgettable musical experiences.

First, the students were given the opportunity to take part in a Disney workshop/recording session where they were able to improve their skills with Mr. Allen Gray, a Disney Teaching Artist, who taught them to focus, watch, listen, and have self-confidence when they play.

On Sunday morning, the students performed a medley of popular Disney music at the Waterside Stage in Disney Springs. These tunes included several favorites from Moana to The Little Mermaid to Enchanted and more. Everyone who attended the performance enjoyed hearing all of these classic Disney songs, and the members of the orchestra had a great time performing.

Aside from the musical aspect of the trip, there was plenty of time to enjoy the rides and all Disney World has to offer. The students were given priority access to Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Everyone who attended had a memorable experience thanks to the dedication of Ms. Shyr and the music department.
